Our background and experience

GreenCode brings you the combined experience of leading professionals in the green economy. The expertise we offer is informed by their learnings founding fast-growing, sustainable organisations in sectors including renewable energy, transport, food and catering, professional sports, engineering and manufacturing, telecommunications, education, design and branding, jewellery and more. Researching, setting, applying and improving upon rigorous environmental standards across these businesses, for a period of over 25 years, led to the formulation of the GreenCode Standards. Through them, our aim is to help others put sustainability at the heart of their organisations.

The GreenCode Standards Board

The criteria at the heart of our accreditation process are set by the GreenCode Standards Board. The panel consists of senior members of the GreenCode operational team and external colleagues who bring vast experience in a range of industries and are recognised leaders in the green economy. Our standards are reviewed, refined and updated on an annual basis, with our Standards Board collaborating to ensure they meet, and in most cases exceed, all regulatory requirements; that the latest methods and learnings are put into practice; and that recommendations from our external auditor are implemented. The GreenCode Standards Board also considers all aspects of the accreditation process itself to ensure we meet the requirements of our clients.

Independently audited accreditation

GreenCode is part of the Green Britain Group but operates independently. Our accreditation scheme is backed up by independent auditing carried out by Energise – a UK consultancy with a mission to heal business and heal the planet. When an organisation reaches our Green tier with a score of 76 or above, Energise will audit its sustainability initiatives to independently verify whether it meets the Green Code Standards.

With over 15 years of experience advising organisations on the importance and practicalities of improving energy efficiency, Energise brings a depth of knowledge across Net Zero targets, biodiversity, supply chain engagement, lifecycle assessment and greenhouse gas reporting. Like GreenCode, Energise takes the view that business can be a vehicle for good in the drive toward sustainability and the establishment of a green economy. Visit the Energise website here.
