What does GreenCode do?

GreenCode was set up to give organisations a clear, straightforward and affordable pathway to sustainability accreditation. We’ll help you assess the current sustainability of your organisation, measured against the GreenCode Standards. Based on this, we’ll identify the areas where you can improve, set achievable targets and help you measure your progress and improve further.

When you achieve GreenCode Accreditation, you’ll be presented with the GreenCode mark to display, showing everyone who comes into contact with your organisation that sustainability is part of its DNA.

Why do organisations work with GreenCode?

Companies and public bodies join the GreenCode journey for a whole range or reasons. The world is facing a climate crisis, and organisations in all sectors need to bring down their emissions and reduce their impact on the environment. Leadership and employees realise this and want their organisations to do the right thing. Likewise, customers and consumers are more eco-conscious than ever and want to know that the companies they deal with are serious about sustainability. Underlining all of this, climate-focused and environmental legislation is increasing all the time.

For many organisations, it’s hard to know where to begin. GreenCode will give you a framework to follow and a means of showing the world that your organisation is helping tackle the climate crisis.

How does GreenCode work?

When you join, you will receive a unique GreenCode number and access to your online dashboard, where you’ll complete our comprehensive questionnaire. Based on this assessment of the overall sustainability of your organisation, you’ll receive a score placing you on the GreenCode pathway.

Based on your responses, we’ll develop an action plan that focuses on the areas where you need to improve. We’ll point you towards resources such as webinars and workshops, and may even put you in contact with other organisations we’ve worked with who have faced similar challenges, for advice. For most organisations, the journey takes a year or two.

When your score reaches 76 or above, you’ll be audited by our external auditor who will verify that the sustainability of your organisation meets our standards. With our independent auditor’s approval, you’ll receive GreenCode accreditation.

The benefits of GreenCode Accreditation

Displaying the GreenCode mark will give your customers the reassurance that they are purchasing from a company that meets our rigorous standards for sustainability. You’ll become part of the GreenCode network of accredited organisations, which will connect you with potential suppliers that share your values and meet your sustainability standards. Likewise, it can connect you with potential customers who want to purchase goods and services from a GreenCode Accredited supplier.

With legislation around sustainability and the environment changing all the time, adhering to the GreenCode Standards will help you ensure compliance, and be ahead of the curve as future legislation is brought to the table. Maintain your GreenCode membership and we’ll help you continue improving the sustainability of your organisation.
